Choosing your Reception Venue
Start early is the cardinal rule with reception planning. Avoid making rushed decisions, so your reception is all you want it to be. Here are some helpful things to check when enquiring about venues. Is an outside caterer allowed or is the venue catering mandatory? Are table linens supplied along with cutlery, glasses or can you have your own delivered and used? The cost of tables, chairs, glasses and are they supplied or can you use your own? Is a bar service available? What is the cost? Sound system. Is one available or do you need to arrange? Seating capacity. Do you need a ballroom or small function room? Are they available on your wedding date? Are parking facilities available. Handicap parking for elderly or infirm? Is there a damage deposit and if so how much and what does it cover? How soon can the decorating begin? Is the use of kitchen facilities included? What choices of serving ware is available and is it china? Are any decorations prohibited? When would the decorations need to be removed? Who does the cleanup and at what cost? Are there any special rules or charges that apply? What style of service is available? […]

Flowers – Real Vs Artificial
What’s a wedding without flowers? The list of who gets them might be longer than you’d expect. We all know the bride, bridesmaids, groom, and groomsmen need flowers, but you may also need personal flowers for your mothers and fathers, your officiant, ushers, and the flower girl and ring bearer. When choosing your flowers, it is important to keep your budget, colour theme, photography plans and location in mind. If you are wanting detailed photographs of your flowers, then choosing real flowers is your best choice. Due to the abundance of poorly made artificial flowers, many brides are justifiably worried about choosing them, however, there are many high-quality versions available, many of which look incredibly realistic. It comes down to more of a personal choice for brides, with pros and cons for both. Artificial Flowers – Pros: Less fragile Can be an eco-friendly option No pollen so no unexpected sneezing Non-allergenic Can be organised and received early Silk equivalent of fresh flowers is more costly Continually in season Will last for years to come Won’t wilt or turn brown No maintenance is required Easily transportable Unscented (although you can get scented which will dissipate over time) Lighter than the real […]
10 Tips To Planning A Budget Wedding Without Being Cheap
1. Avoid Obligatory Invites How lovely it would be if you could simply invite everyone you know to your wedding, keep in mind though that each person will incur additional costs to your wedding budget. Try to invite close family and friends, remember that your strange neighbour down the road won’t be offended if they don’t make the cut. A lot of couples find that they begin with a ridiculously long guest list when first planning their wedding, try to avoid inviting people that you don’t know well simply because you feel obligated. To cut costs where you can, try inviting fewer people and making the event more intimate. Start by minimizing your list down by 20%, then another 20%. Then see if you’re happy with it. 2. Make your own invitations. It is possible to make very classy invitations on your own. There are websites such as Vistaprint that offer cheap wedding invitations you can order from the comfort of your home. You could also design your own invitations on an app such as Canva using their supplied templates and incorporating your own photos and text. Once you’ve got your desired design just send it through to your local […]
